A.A.R.P. PRESENTS – their “Driver Safety Course” on Tuesday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall. Please note that the class will be held for only one day for 4 hours. Register at Activities with check payable to AARP. Cost is $12 members/$14 non-members (must bring membership card at time of registration). BRUSH & PENCIL CLUB
Activities Hallway Gallery – theme for March is “Something Green.” Members to submit one or two paintings properly wired and framed to the Activities Lobby on March 1 between 9 and 10 a.m. Please pick up paintings on March 30. Any questions call Susan Mahoney (264-9155).
* Colored Pencil Classes – with Marsha Fogarty on Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon in the Stable Studio. Materials needed: Vellum paper, Prismacolor pencils and a Tuff Stuff eraser stick. Learn color mixing and shading. Register at the Activities Desk with a $40 check payable to Marsha Fogarty.
* Friday Morning Art Class – with Joe Cavallo. New session starts Fridays, March 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 9:30 a.m.-12 noon in the Stable Studio. Come join the fun. Focus will be on completing a painting using a limited color palette. Work in watercolor, acrylics or oil. Instruction is individual. Sign up at Activities with check for $40 payable to Joe Cavallo.
* CAMERA CLUB COMPETITION – on Tuesday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall. Subject is “Animals.” Description is: a photo of any live animal either wild or domestic. Digitals must be submitted by Friday, March 16. Prints are due by 4 p.m. on day of competition. Judge will be Frank Gardner. Competition for members only. Visitors welcome.
CELTIC CONNECTIONS CLUB – will host a photo slide show of the club’s trip to Scotland last August. The meeting will be held in Sarah Cooke Hall on Sunday, February 26 at 2 p.m. with refreshments preceding the meeting. Club president, Betty Keneavy-Nipoti will discuss the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the group’s trip through the Highlands of Scotland. Members are free with their membership card and an admission charge of $5 for non-members will be collected at the door.

Individual One-on-One Instructions and help in your home, on your own computer and other electronic devices (i-Pads, i-Phones, Readers and other tablets). Available to club members. Instructions will be geared to your exact problems and needs. Call Dan Chafetz (262-4159) with questions or to schedule a session. Suggested donation $15 per hour.
* General meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 10 a.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall. In addition to our regular program, there will also be a presentation on the care and feeding of i-Pads and other electronic devices. Experts from Chapin Business Services and the Computer Club will be on hand to help answer any questions you may have regarding computers, i-Pads, E-book readers and other problems with your electronic devices. All Villagers are welcome – Every resident is invited. You do not have to be a member or an owner to attend. Light refreshments served.
DUCKPIN BOWLERS – invite you for a fun and easy activity. Bowlers and substitutes are welcome. We bowl on Fridays at Danbury Duckpin Lanes. Cost: $6 for three games. Please call Mike at 262-8781.
* JEWISH CULTURE CLUB – has rescheduled the film “Arranged,” which was cancelled due to inclement weather. This is an exciting movie that emphasizes that friendship has no religion. Rachel, an orthodox Jew and Nasira, a Muslim of Syrian origin are both teachers in a public school in Brooklyn. These women are both entering into arranged marriages according to their religious traditions and are relying on their friendship during this difficult time. The “Chicken Soup Event” will be rescheduled at another time. The film will be held in Sarah Cooke Hall on Sunday, March 18 at 2 p.m. Cake and coffee will be served after the movie. Sign up in advance as we must purchase food. Cost: $3 – Tickets at Activities. Questions can be directed to Celia Schwartz at 264-0961.
* LADIES WHO LUNCH – will meet on Friday, March 2 at the Brookside Inn, 231 Oxford Road, Oxford. There will be a prix fixe menu for $22.67 consisting of salad bar, rolls, a choice of five entrees, vegetables, potato, apple crisp and coffee or tea. Please have exact change ready for payment. Gather at the Fireside Lounge by 11:30 a.m. for carpooling and directions. For reservations and questions call Thelma Oppenheimer at 264-8333. Deadline is Wed., February 29. (This isn’t a typo; it’s Leap Year!)
CALLING ALL CLUB LEADERS – The New Villager’s Club will sponsor a “Club Expo” on Saturday, April 14 from 2-5 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall. All Villagers are welcome to attend and learn more about the many clubs and activities available here in the Village. Club representatives will be on hand to answer questions, sign up new members and showcase their good times and good deeds. Club Leaders call Karen Knox at 405-3296 to include your club as space is limited.
* SCRABBLE CLUB – will meet Sunday, March 11 in the Fireside from 2-4 p.m. Bring your scrabble set; friends and relatives are welcome. Admission is $1 per person. Coffee, tea and little cakes will be served. On your own or with others…everyone is welcome to relax and enjoy an afternoon of Scrabble.
* STAMP & COIN CLUB – meets on Wednesday, February 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gun Room. Note day of week change. All Villagers welcome!
* WOMEN’S CLUB – Back by popular request, “Getting Older, Getting Better” will be held in Sarah Cooke Hall on Thursday, March 8 from 2-4 p.m. Presentation features five health professionals discussing various topics of interest. Virginia Hannon, APRN, Southbury Geriatric Center; Common Anxieties in Seniors. Dr. James Prado, Pomperaug Chiropractic Center - Chiropractic Care Over 60. David Charash, Med. Dir., Morganti Center of Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine, Danbury Hospital - Treatment and Care of Chronic Wounds. Sandy Kantanameni, Pharmacist, Reliant Pharmacy - Medicine Interactions. Alison Birks, Nutritionist, New Morning Market - Nutritional Counseling. Followed by refreshments and an opportunity to speak privately with each presenter.
