CINEMA SOCIAL - Join us on Fridays for new movies right here in the Village.  Social hour at 12 noon.  Bring your favorite food to share.  Coffee and punch will be provided or bring your own drink.  Show times at 1 p.m. and we will break half way through the film for intermission.  Table assignments on a first come, first served basis.  Call by noon the day before for minibus transportation.  Future movies to be shown: March 9 - Moneyball; March 23 – To Be Announced in a later Bulletin. Flyers with movie descriptions will be available at Activities.  Sign up at Activities Desk-Cost $2 in advance or $3 at the door.


* FALL PREVENTION THROUGH BALANCE IMPROVEMENT - Maintaining balance is the result of a complex interaction of many systems of the human body.  With aging, changes occur that reduce the efficiency of these systems, which jeopardizes balance and increases the risk of falls and injuries.  Instructor Linda Fandel will help you improve your balance and increase strength and stamina by learning simple exercises, correct body posture techniques and utilizing functional equipment.  Sign up for a series of five classes for $60.  (Minimum 3 & maximum 8 per class)


Session 1-Wednesdays: March 7, 14, 21 & 28 and April 4

Session 2 - If the Wednesday class fills up, there will be classes on Fridays: March 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30

Both sessions will be held from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

SATURDAY NITE SOCIAL – Come and join us for an Irish Celebration (Cheiliúradh Gaelach) and do a “Jig” (Rinse) to the fine music of Willie Nininger – Family & Friends. Willie covers an array of songs, his own and covers of other popular musicians.  He’s played all over the New York and CT areas as well as Switzerland and Europe.  He’s played the National Anthem for the NY Mets several times.  Early in his career he wrote songs for “The Captain Kangaroo Show”.  Social on Saturday, March 17 from 7-10 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall.  Cost is $10 per person.  BYOB & snacks.  Punch will be provided.  Tickets and table reservations are available at Activities.


* WALK TALL - BALANCED & STRONG - with Instructor, Fabrice DeCola.  An exercise program to develop proper posture, develop strength and joint integrity and movement.  This class will offer exercise to improve posture and body alignment which in turn improves your balance.  Sign up for a series of five classes for $60.


FABRICE DECOLA- M.S., C.S.C.S., C.P.T, - With over 22 years of experience, Fabrice holds a certification as a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has held certifications with National Federation of Personal Trainers, National Academy of Sports Medicine and the Aerobics and Fitness Association. His philosophy in training is to first focus on posture, balance and movement issues before building pure strength.  His certification with The Egosque Method has enabled him to help clients live pain free. He believes that today’s sedentary lifestyle has created a serious problem with our ability to move properly.


Class Sessions:  Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20, 27 & April 3

Class Time: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. / Minimum 3 & maximum 8 per class

ZUMBA CLASSES - The Zumba Gold, an innovative, fun and exciting program, was designed for the active older adult and people who are not used to exercising.  The main difference between Zumba Gold and Zumba Basic is Zumba Gold is done at a lower intensity, not as fast, but it certainly is as fun.  The same great Latin styles of music and dance are used.  Melissa Kopeloff-Truelove is a certified Zumba instructor with a BFA from the University of Massachusetts Five College Dance Department.  She has performed with various artists in NYC and was a member of the Peter Czerner Dance Company, located in southern Germany.  


Thursdays - 6 Classes: February 23 and March 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29

Class time:  4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Classes are in the Multi-Purpose Room.  Registration for the 6 week session is $60.  Class size:  minimum 8 and maximum 12 participants.


BUS DEPARTURES

DANBURY EXIT 8 – via mini bus departs on Tuesday, February 21 at 12:45 p.m. from the Activities Building Upper lot with unit pick-up also.  Estimated arrival back to H.V. is 4:45 p.m.


FOXWOODS CASINO – bus departs on Monday, February 13 at 8:00 a.m. from the Meeting House Paddock lot.  Estimated arrival back to H.V. is 6:00 p.m.
