First, I want to wish everyone a very good 2012.  Personally I consider myself fortunate to be healthy and again given the opportunity to serve the Village as President for the second time.  While it is still early to be making many decisions, I have been working with the committees to see where they need to go this year and where the greatest needs are.  I anticipate this will take the balance of the month and as soon as we’re set we’ll be publishing all the committee members and the dates and times of committee meetings.  

As you know, all residents are welcome at almost all committee meetings as observers.  I encourage you to come to some of the meetings and learn how they (the committees) can affect the well being of our community.  Perhaps you would like to become a member of a committee in the future, or you have a particular talent or interest in what that committee does.  In the next issue of The Bulletin, we will include a complete description of the committees as to what their functions are and a form for you to fill out if you might be interested in becoming a member of that committee when openings occur.  However, I would suggest you sit in on a couple of meetings as an observer to get a sense of what they are doing.

I have already scheduled regular meetings with our Manager, the Vice President and our Treasurer to discuss problems and solutions.  We will also be meeting with the Southbury First Selectman on a regular monthly basis to discuss common issues.

Lots of new things are happening.  One, that will be of interest to everyone I’m sure, is the new resident web site, that is currently in the works and should be up and running very soon.  I’ll give you more information on that in a couple of weeks.  In case you noticed there is a computer now set up in the lobby of the Activities building for everyone’s use so you can avail yourself of all the Village information we have.

Remember my door is always open for visitors.  Please call Janet to schedule an appointment since I might be in a meeting when you come.  I would not want you to climb those stairs to find I’m not here.

I would love to see you and get your ideas and input.  Also, remember we have a “Suggestion Box” located by the stairway in the Meeting House.
