Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday


AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION – An afternoon of song and dance to benefit the H.V. Ambulance Association - Sweet Adelines and the Village’s Happy Tappers.  Join us at 2 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall.  Donation:  $10.  Tickets may be purchased at the Activities Desk in the Activities Building.  Performance snow date will be Saturday, February 18 at 2 p.m. in SCH.

READING CLUB – will meet at 10 a.m. in the Card Room.  Discussion of:  “Beware of Pity” by Stephen Zweig.  ALL WELCOME!  Questions call Anna-Kay Monaco at 405-1989.  Book for March 12 – “Crossing to Safety” by Wallace Stegner.

* SINGLES GROUP – is sponsoring a breakfast on the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. - Meet at Panera’s in Kmart Plaza.  Checks are individual.  Info/reservation:  Linda Lindner at 405-3839.


* OIL & ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS – Lorraine Chapin will start a new on-going class today from 1:30-4:00 p.m. in the Stable Studio.  Subsequent dates:  February 22, 29 & March 7.  Register at the Activities Desk with a $45 check to Lorraine Chapin.  Beginners and advanced students invited.


* CONCERNED RESIDENTS CLUB – meeting, at 2 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall, will include discussion and focus on the meaning and purpose of Reserves and other matters related to the Budget.  With us will be Manager, Kevin Hellriegel; Comptroller, Eric Ericson; Treasurer, Joan Gillespie and Assistant Treasurer, Joe Hennessy.


* SINGLES GROUP – invites all Villagers to a monthly spiritual drumming circle the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Mezzanine of the Fireside.  Must have own drum (native, Jembe, Irish) rattles/rain stick, etc.  Dress for comfort and ease.  Info:  Lynn Vela at 264-7828.

DEMOCRATIC CLUB CELEBRATION – from 2:30-5:30 p.m. in the Music Room.  Come and meet our newly elected officials.  Refreshments provided by Laura’s Kitchen.  Questions:  Kathy at 262-1667.


* PAINT & DRAW – in your style and preferred media.  All skill levels and media are welcome.  Individual instruction and discussion of works, with suggestions and all demos on scrap paper when needed.  New class begins today through March 22 from 1:30-4:00 p.m. in the Stable Studio.  Register at Activities with a $40 check payable to Betty Ramey.

THEATRE GUILD – presents the 4th Annual Play Reading in Sarah Cooke Hall at 2 p.m.  There is no charge and registration is not required.  Come enjoy the writing, directing and acting of your fellow Villagers.  Refreshments provided.

Presidents’ Day


MAINTENANCE, MANAGEMENT & ACTIVITIES OFFICES – will be closed in observance of President’s Day. All medical, fire or theft call 911.  The Security phone (203-264-4001) will be manned for non-emergencies.


Tuesday, February 21

CAMERA CLUB COMPETITION – to be held at 7 p.m. in Sarah Cooke Hall.  Subject is Anything Goes.  The judge is Ercole Gaudioso.  Prints are due by 4 p.m. - Digital images submission no later than Friday, February 17.  Competition is open to members.  Villagers invited; come learn, enjoy.

Ash Wednesday / Washington’s Birthday


BRUSH & PENCIL CLUB - Water Color Classes with Betsy Rogers-Knox – New session begins today from 9:30 a.m.-12 noon in the Stable Studio.  Subsequent dates:  Wednesdays, February 29, March 7 & 14.  Focus on textural techniques to paint brick, stone walls and barn wood.  Register at Activities with a check for $40 to Betsy Rogers-Knox.

* GENEALOGY CLUB – invites all members and Villagers to a “Breaking Down the Brick Walls” session.  Bring your frustrations and recent successes in family researching to our meeting in Sarah Cooke Hall at 1:30 p.m.  We will applaud your “finds” and brainstorm ideas to lead you forward in your researching.


ZUMBA CLASSES – New class session begins today from 4:00-4:45 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room.  Registration for the 6 week session is $60.  Register at Activities.  Class size:  min. 8 / max. 12.  See “Events Planned by Activities” for further information.

* CINEMA SOCIAL - Social hour at 12 noon.  Bring your favorite food to share.  Coffee and punch will be provided or bring your own drink.  Movie time at 1:00 p.m. and we will break half way through the film for intermission.  Table assignments on a first come, first served basis.  Movie to be shown: The Help.   Sign up at Activities Desk-Cost $2 in advance or $3 at the door.
